SMTP Tester
This quick SMTP tester saves you the trouble of configuring an SMTP script or setting up an email profile when testing or troubleshooting SMTP services.
This might come in handy while setting up a multi-function (MFC) printer/scanner/copier which scans to email or when making sure you have the right information handy to set up email alerts on the DVR or NVR for your security system.
This simple applet was built in Python and updated to have a basic to-the-point user interface where you can easily enter the necessary information including username, password, SMTP Server address, SMTP Port, and whether or not to use TLS.
When using Google’s gmail service (with or without Google Workplace) or Microsoft 365 Outlook, be sure to set an app password! Many other email services will require this as well.
This Windows program is available for free download. The original Python code is available as well.

IP Address Monitor is a powerful yet lightweight tool designed to help you diagnose and monitor both your internet connection and your internal network performance — all from your local PC.
With a dead-simple setup and no cloud or external dependencies, you can begin monitoring your network in seconds. The tool continuously pings any IP addresses or hostnames you specify and records the results locally to a database, so even if you close the application, it picks up right where you left off.
What It Does:
Visual Live Monitoring
Each IP address is represented with a color-coded progress bar:
🟩 Green: Fast responses (< 80ms)
🟨 Yellow: Slower, but successful responses (≥ 80ms)
🟥 Red: Timeouts or unreachable devices
- Historical Tracking
All results are stored locally. View the full history or filter by type (slow, timeout, etc.) with just a click.
- Exportable Logs
Export ping results to CSV at any time for analysis or reporting.
- Resilient Local Storage
Even if the app is closed, all data is saved. When reopened, it resumes monitoring and analysis without reconfiguration.
- Diagnose Internet vs Internal Network Problems
IP Address Monitor is especially useful for distinguishing between ISP issues and internal infrastructure problems. For example:
- Monitor a public IP or DNS like 8.8.8.8
Monitor your default gateway (router)
Monitor a reliable internal device (e.g., file server or switch)
When issues occur:
- If you lose connection to the internet and gateway… it’s likely internal.
- If the gateway fails but you can ping other internal devices… your router may be the issue.
- If only the internet IP fails… your ISP may be the problem.
Customize Your Experience
- Enter IPs or hostnames (comma-separated)
- Set your definition of a “slow” ping (default: 80ms)
- Adjust how often pings are sent
